For Nate Visser, the dream of becoming a doctor started close to home with his son.
Five-year-old Emmet was born with two rare genetic conditions, and the family travels to Texas every few months to access specialized care, at a cost of about $60,000 a year. That inspired Visser to pursue medicine and help build better options for families here on PEI.
He's not doing this on his own! Thanks to the George and Velma Wright Scholarship, Visser can continue on his educational journey while supporting his son's treatment.
