Prince Edward Island’s journey toward its own medical school began through a partnership with Memorial University, allowing the province to begin training future physicians sooner while benefiting from Memorial’s established curriculum and expertise in distributed medical education.
As UPEI Faculty of Medicine continues to develop an independent, made-in-PEI medical education program, we have an opportunity to build on this strong foundation while shaping a program that reflects the unique healthcare needs, communities, and realities of Prince Edward Island.
To help guide this work, UPEI is developing its first Faculty of Medicine strategic plan and conducting a curriculum needs assessment. We want to hear directly from Islanders, healthcare providers, learners, and community partners about the opportunities, challenges, and priorities that should shape the future of medical education in PEI.
We invite you to share your perspectives through this anonymous survey. Your feedback will help inform the Faculty’s strategic direction and the continued development of medical education in Prince Edward Island.
The survey will remain open until Friday, July 10, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. (ADT).
In addition to completing the survey, Islanders are invited to participate in one of four community town halls being held across Prince Edward Island. These sessions will provide an opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions, and share your ideas directly with the project team.
